Pediatric Trauma Fractures

Pediatric trauma fractures are bone injuries that occur in children due to falls, road traffic accidents, sports activities, or other accidental trauma.

Because children’s bones are still growing, fractures in pediatric patients differ significantly from those in adults, especially when growth plates are involved. Common pediatric fractures include forearm fractures, elbow injuries, clavicle fractures, and lower limb fractures. Early and accurate diagnosis is essential, as improper treatment can affect bone growth, alignment, and long-term function.

Treatment of pediatric trauma fractures is tailored to the child’s age, fracture type, and severity of injury. Many fractures can be managed with casts or splints, while complex or displaced fractures may require surgical intervention using child-specific techniques. The primary goals of treatment are proper healing, preservation of growth potential, and early return to normal activities. With timely care, expert pediatric orthopedic management, and appropriate rehabilitation, most children recover fully and regain normal strength and mobility.
